SOURCES OF
POLYPHENOL

Which foods have the highest concentration of polyphenols?

Fruits, vegetables and herbs are the most powerful sources of polyphenols.

You will easily recognize the sources of polyphenols: the amount of polyphenols in plants determines their colour intensity, bitterness, aroma and smell, thus it is precisely the plants with intense smell, colour and aroma, such as grapes, cocoa, blueberries or avocado, richest in polyphenols.

Fruit sources: grapes, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, cherries, aronia, grapefruit, oranges, apples, plums, rosehip juice.

Polyphenols in vegetables: spinach, onion, olives, broccoli, carrots, asparagus, artichokes, Jerusalem artichokes.

Spices and herbs with the highest concentration of polyphenols: cocoa, ginger, cinnamon, turmeric, anise, clove, saffron, rosemary, sage, thyme, basil, cumin, caraway, fennel.

Seeds, nuts and legumes as sources of polyphenols: linseeds, walnuts, chestnuts, hazelnuts, almonds, beans.

Drinks with polyphenols: coffee, tea, red wines.

Vegetable fat as source of polyphenols: olive oil, dark chocolate, sesame seed oil.

Fun fact: Meals made of fruits and vegetables rich in polyphenols will contain the same amount of this antioxidant as fresh foods.

Practical advice:

If we are not able to eat food rich in antioxidants and do not have time to implement polyphenolic herbs into our daily diet, it is necessary to introduce a continuous antioxidant supplementation in the form of dietary supplements.
